Who Am I? Time For a Re-introduction
It’s been a little while since I’ve explained who I am and what I do. Part of this is explained throughout my website, but in this blog post, I’ll go a little more in-depth with answering these questions.
Who Am I?
I’m Sarah.
I’m a wife, a mother to three teenagers and a cat mum to a fluffy Ragdoll cat called Blu Shadow. I’m an English as an Additional Language (EAL) teacher, a teacher resource creator and a copyeditor/proofreader. I love reading, writing, and watching good movies. I love beautiful things. I love words and I love being creative.
Teacher
I’ve been teaching EAL in one of Melbourne’s main language schools for the last 12 years. Currently, I am teaching a Year 4 – 6 class. In Victoria, Australia, a Year 4 – 6 class would be students aged 9 – 12 years. My current class has a mixture of refugee students from Burma (Myanmar), China, Vietnam and the Philippines. I do not speak another language although I enjoyed learning Japanese at university. We have Multicultural Education Aides who assist us in the classroom. I work and live in the same area so I can run into my students at the shops which they think is funny.
Teacher Resource Creator
I have a store on the online platform 321teach.com.au for EAL teacher resources. So many resources need to be simplified or modified for our students. Visually some resources can look very appealing but if there is too much information on the page, the resources can be overwhelming. My resources are suitable for newly arrived English Language Learners who still require a lot of support in their learning.
Copyeditor/Proofreader
I completed a Certificate IV in Writing and Editing a few years ago. I am currently updating my skills and knowledge of copyediting and proofreading by doing a course with Capstone Editing. I enjoy using my English skills to assist people with making their written communication clearer. For more information on my fees and working with me, please click on the relevant page on my website.
